‘Ghost Adventures’ renewed for Season 8; Tim McGraw TV special at MGM
With Season 7 of “Ghost Adventures” coming in as its highest-rated ever, executives at The Travel Channel have given the green-light go-ahead for an eighth season with 26 episodes. Las Vegas producer Zak Bagans told me, “Obviously, we are very thrilled. It means we still hold the title of the network’s highest-rated, all-around series.”
Zak says the most anticipated upcoming episode is “New Orleans” airing Feb. 22 where his team of paranormal investigators have unexpected contact with a Hurricane Katrina victim. He tells me that the team and camera crew also revisited the Goldfield Hotel 180 miles north of Las Vegas.
“It turned into our most powerful investigation in the seven-year history of the program,” Zak said. The renewal also means future projects for Zak with the cable network, but he can’t reveal more for now.
TIM McGRAW’S TV SPECIAL
Academy of Country Music events are expanding to a fourth night here in April. The Venetian headliner Tim McGraw is set to tape an all-star concert special April 8 at MGM Grand Garden Arena, and it will air this summer on CBS. Tim is handpicking his colleagues to help kick off the 2013 touring season and says there’ll be performances from country, pop and rock stars, plus, film and TV stars. The 15-time ACM Award winner is earmarking proceeds for Lifting Lives.
“I hope I can turn the fans onto some of the best live music going out on the road this summer and really put the spotlight on the ones I know they won’t want to miss,” Tim said. “We have a responsibility to raise money and awareness for all the good work Lifting Lives does. Last summer, they supported me in giving away a house to a veteran in need in every city we played in, so I’m excited to get my friends together to repay the favor.”
Tickets go on sale today for the 48th Annual ACM Awards at MGM Grand on April 7, plus, Tim’s show and Brad Paisley’s April 7 fan jam at The Orleans Arena. ACM also will present its debut outdoor music festival at The Orleans on April 5 and 6.
