Wicked Whispers and Racy Rumors! News of pop queen Britney Spears’ decision today to end her run as a judge on Simon Cowell’s “X Factor” may have surprised fans and TV viewers, but not Las Vegas hotel executives who knew that she has a bigger project up her sleeves.

I’ve reliably learned that she’s been plotting a significant production show run on the Strip for a major hotel, and negotiations to woo her have reached a “very serious stage,” I was told this morning.

Incredibly, it’s part of the now-expanding and continuing nightclub and megabucks DJs war here, and Britney will be offered a deal that includes the shows and nightclub and dayclub events.

“She is the one and only logical all-around star with a full touring production spectacular made for Las Vegas now that hotels and nightclubs are partnering up to land the biggest talents,” I was told by a knowledgeable insider.

“Britney has one very real proposal on the table, but now that it’s definite she’s leaving ‘X Factor’ with a Las Vegas show finally in her future, it’s likely there will be a bidding war by other properties on and just off the Strip.”

The superstar has been rumored the past two years to have considered a series of concert dates here similar to Celine Dion and Shania Twain’s schedules at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace. She has performed special engagements at Rain in the Palms, plus her touring shows at Mandalay Bay and MGM Grand. Britney was here recently as the birthday surprise guest for a mogul’s private party.

“Now it’s far more likely than ever before,” I was told. “She wants to do it. If all the pieces come together for a mini-residency and several weekend engagements through the year as wanted, it will finally happen.”

Criss Angel survives 'the most dangerous and frightening thing I’ve ever done in my life'

June 18, 2013 • 2:25 p.m.

For 10 nail-biting minutes, several thousand people stood in total silence and watched magician Criss Angel inch his way, blindfolded, across two steel beams swaying 50 feet in the air. This was no illusion for the “Believe” star. No tricks, nothing hidden, no sleight of hand or wizardry to divert attention. The "Mindfreak" star, who is shooting a new series of one-hour specials for Spike TV, was in full view of the audience members, who stopped shopping at the Fashion Show mall on the Strip.
