Photos: Beyonce scores a touchdown with Super Bowl XLVII halftime show

2011 Playboy Playmate of the Year Claire Sinclair said it best about Super Bowl XLVII (47) in The Kats Report on Friday. “All I know is that there are two teams going to Beyonce’s concert.” (Sorry, sports fans.)

Beyonce unintentionally overshadowed President Obama’s second inauguration last month with her lip-synched performance of the National Anthem -- she sang along with a recorded track -- and then performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” live -- and impeccably -- during a Super Bowl media day in New Orleans on Thursday before fielding media questions.

So the spotlight was on Beyonce Knowles, the wife of hip-hop mogul Jay-Z and of Destiny’s Child fame, as she performed the Pepsi Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show at Super Bowl XLVII. (Full disclosure: I’m a big fan of Beyonce, so it would take a lot for her to flub the halftime show. Regarding her lip-syncing? Who cares. It is still her voice, and talent is talent.)

At 5:08 p.m., Beyonce and her fans hit the field at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Pyrotechnics were abundant, and Sasha Fierce, in a black leather mini-dress, performed the fan-voted setlist, beginning with “Crazy in Love” with female dancers and her signature dance moves. Her female guitarist had pyrotechnics shooting from her guitar. Beyonce blew a kiss to the audience.

Beyonce, who just had a baby, looked uh-MAH-zing. Her second song is “End of Time” from her latest album, “4”; LED screen effects accompany “Baby Boy.”

At 5:16 p.m., it’s “Bootylicious” and a Destiny’s Child reunion(!) with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, leading into “Independent Women, Part I” from “Charlie’s Angels.” “Good morning, Charlie!” indeed.

As expected, it’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” -- there are some sound problems -- but Beyonce is killing it. The crowd points their fingers to Beyonce, per her request, to channel their energy as she sings “Halo.” She is screeching a little, but it’s because she’s singing her face off and leaving her heart onstage.

She ends her spectacular spectacular with, “Thank you for this moment. God bless you all!” Thank you, Beyonce.

In case you care, Joe Flacco and his Baltimore Ravens lead rookie quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers 21-6 at halftime. My bet (with my brother for a lunch): I want the 49ers to win (despite Chris Culliver), but the Ravens will win.
