Nine-time Grammy Award-winning singer and actress Mary J. Blige and singer and producer D’Angelo brought their the Liberation Tour to the Pearl in the Palms on Friday night.

R&B icon Blige’s biggest hits include “Real Love,” “Not Gon’ Cry,” “Family Affair” (her surprisingly sole No. 1 hit) and “Be Without You.” Her latest album, from last year, is “My Life II … the Journey Continues (Act I),” and she starred in this year’s “Rock of Ages” as Justice Charlier alongside Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough and Alec Baldwin.

Neo-soul artist D’Angelo, who is amid a comeback of sorts, is known for his hits “Lady” and “Untitled (How Does It Feel?).” The video for the latter, a tribute to his ab-tastic body and much as to his fine falsetto, lives forever in music video infamy (that’s a good thing).
