It’s been four years in the making, but at long last it appears as if the fifth and final “Rambo” film from actor Sylvester Stallone has a go ahead with scenes set to be shot in and around Las Vegas and the Nevada and Arizona deserts. The movie series has long told the exploits of John Rambo and his hometown in Arizona.

“Rambo V” has been an on-off project for Sly over his insistence that it be a solid and “worthwhile” story. The latest word is that it won’t be war-torn heroics but with current headlines about mass killings at Mexico’s border cities. Rambo’s mission is to track down his daughter captured by human traffickers and Mexican drug lords who have taken over the border.

Film industry sources say Sly has confirmed the project, and insiders whisper that he’s begun casting, with many scenes to be shot here.

WICKED WHISPERS & RACY RUMORS

Which Strip star’s business partner pleaded guilty in court to battery charges in beating up an ex-employee? The manager was ordered to undergo 30 hours of anger management, perform 100 hours of community service and pay $1,000, plus, all medical expenses of the victim.

Are lawyers for cast members of a new reality TV series being shot here taking a second look at contracts to see if there are out clauses because of fears of being portrayed in a bad light?

Money is no object at Surrender in Steve Wynn’s Encore adding another 5,000 square feet to its space by placing a dome over the main pool and platform area for winter. Climate-controlled panels in the dome, at the gaming pavilion and the former Switch patio will be working by Friday, with a new cyclone of 70-inch plasma screens for the sound system.

NEW LOOK AT OLD VEGAS: Congratulations to veteran Las Vegas performer and TV host Tony Sacca celebrating 27 years of “entertainment Las Vegas-style.” Over the years, Tony has collected entertainment, interview and historical footage, and now they will become a new 52-episode series titled “Classic Vegas Entertainment.” When his weekly show began in 1985, the population was less than 400,000.

He told me, “The mega-resort hotels weren’t invented yet, there were no Cirque du Soleil shows, and the showgirl was the Las Vegas icon.” Tony, who has a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame outside New York-New York, is taking footage from more than 500 TV episodes for the production.

His library of footage includes Redd Foxx, Anthony Quinn, Milton Berle, Marcel Marceau, Peter Paul and Mary, Lou Rawls, Dorothy Hamill, Mickey Rooney, Juliet Prowse, Robert Wagner, Jill St. John and much more. Laughed Tony: “The upside of being on television for 27 years is the footage I’ve collected. The downside is seeing that I’ve aged quite a bit!”

Criss Angel survives 'the most dangerous and frightening thing I’ve ever done in my life'

June 18, 2013 • 2:25 p.m.

For 10 nail-biting minutes, several thousand people stood in total silence and watched magician Criss Angel inch his way, blindfolded, across two steel beams swaying 50 feet in the air. This was no illusion for the “Believe” star. No tricks, nothing hidden, no sleight of hand or wizardry to divert attention. The "Mindfreak" star, who is shooting a new series of one-hour specials for Spike TV, was in full view of the audience members, who stopped shopping at the Fashion Show mall on the Strip.

'Priscilla' and 500 drag queen costumes bus across the desert for nine-week run at the Venetian

June 18, 2013 • 1:38 p.m.

The journey on Interstate 15 across the desert from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for the "Priscilla" musical touring company is as incredible an undertaking as the Australian outback drag-queen scripted adventure itself. The big, glitzy, colorful theatrical production complete with an on-stage cutaway bus takes nine trucks to transport — two of which are just for the wardrobe costumes and hair pieces! Cast and crew arrived Monday, and Tuesday morning, “Priscilla School” opened to teach hired Las Vegas locals how best to help the cast fast-change in and out of the myriad of outrageous outfits. "Priscilla Queen of the Desert — The Musical" opens for a one-night preview Tuesday night, and the full run premieres on Thursday at the Venetian.
