It was a historic day in MLB history Wednesday, something that hasn’t happened in 45 years, something only 14 other players have ever accomplished and a milestone that isn’t likely to occur again in our lifetime.
Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera became a Triple Crown winner; he ended baseball’s regular season leading the league with a .330 batting average, 44 home runs and 139 RBIs.

And thanks to contributing photographer Tom Donoghue for his gallery of 29-year-old Venezuelan Cabrera, which includes images with Frank Robinson, the 1966 Triple Crown winner (Carl Yastrzemski won the Triple Crown the following year); Cabrera’s wife Rosangel; Hall of Famer Joe Morgan; and Adrian Gonzalez and his wife Betty.
