The Epicurean Charitable Foundation celebrated its 11th Annual M.E.N.U.S. scholarship fundraiser with Las Vegas star chefs and the Counting Crows with frontman Adam Duritz last Friday night at the M Resort. Philanthropic leader Jim Rogers was the honoree for his dedication to education and the community.

The autumn weather was perfect at M Resort’s Villaggio Del Sol Pool and Entertainment Piazza, the site of the dine around and the concert by the Counting Crows. Duritz addressed a group of about 20 ECF scholarship recipients from the stage and said, “We’re happy to be here supporting such a great cause!” Duritz and the band happily posed for photographs with fans.

The chef and food lineup included Kerry Simon of KGB: Kerry’s Gourmet Burgers in Harrah’s serving Dungeness crab BLT sliders and breakfast cereal cupcakes; Saul Ortiz of Tacos & Tequila in the Luxor with chilorio tacos, tres leches with passion fruit and watermelon cooler cocktails.

Also, among others: Masa Takayama’s Bar Masa in Aria served sashimi and salmon oshizushi; Carla Pellegrino’s Bratalian in Henderson had penne alla vodka; Gordon Ramsay Steakhouse in the Paris featured smoked beef tartare topped with Guinness-infused mustard with seeds and lemon zest; and Beni Velazquez of downtown’s Bar + Bistro served Bristol Bay scallops.

Larry Ruvo, ECF sponsor and donor and senior managing partner of Southern Wine & Spirits, attended, and his company created specialty cocktails the M.E.N.U.S. Martini, the Hospitality, the Mentor Margarita and more. M.E.N.U.S. raises money for scholarships for students pursuing a career in the hospitality industry.
