MLB legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson hosted his Eighth All-Star Celebrity Classic, a fundraiser for his Mr. October Foundation for Kids, at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Sunday, and contributing photographer Tom Donoghue and Las Vegas Sun photographer Steve Marcus were onsite for photo galleries.
Cedric the Entertainer served as host of the Sunday night gala, and Jeffrey Osborne and Brian McKnight performed for the crowd. Cosmopolitan head honcho Tom McCarthy and staff greeted Jackson and the other VIPs. (Incidentally, Cedric also hosted the 2012 Soul Train Awards at PH Live at Planet Hollywood on Thursday night.)
Other celebrities in attendance at the Celebrity Classic included Sam Moore, “Dr. J” Julius Erving, George “Iceman” Gervin, Rick Berry, Jeremy Roenick, Franco Harris, Roger Clemens, Rollie Fingers, Jim Palmer, Joe Rudi, Robin Yount and Dave Stewart. Jackson’s daughter Kimberly Jane also was in attendance.
A golf outing was held Sunday morning ahead of the fundraiser dinner. The Mr. October Foundation for Kids aims to enable minority students to thrive in science, technology and innovation.
