DJ Avicii was the star spangled music attraction as Hollywood and sports celebrities packed into XS in Steve Wynn’s Encore on Saturday night as part of the hotel’s Independence Week celebrations, and the nightclub was at capacity as partygoers were still in town from the midweek Fourth of July and International Fight Week.
The crowd included UFC fan favorite Tito Ortiz with his wife Jenna Jameson. Ortiz, who lost to Forrest Griffin in UFC 148 in his retirement match at MGM Grand Garden Arena (quite a few MMA fans said he was robbed after knocking down Griffin three times), ended his 15-year career with an induction into the UFC Hall of Fame. UFC legend Chuck Liddell joined them.
Also at XS: Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant, in town for the Team USA Olympic training sessions, celebrated at a VIP table. And in a separate group, actor Sean Patrick Flanery.
DJ Tiesto paid a visit to Avicii onstage. The Dutch resident DJ kicked off Independence Week, which wrapped Sunday evening with a Night Swim party with DJ Otto Knows. Thanks to Emilio Gonzales for his photo gallery of Avicii.
