Sneak peek: Hostess newspaper dress at Gordon Ramsay’s Pub & Grill

With a totally new approach to his food at Pub & Grill, chef Gordon Ramsay’s fashion designer is making sure that the server and hostess uniforms also show the difference. Vegas DeLuxe has a first look at the new, hot sexy newspaper dress that will be worn by the hostesses when Pub & Grill opens at Caesars Palace next Tuesday.
“You’ll see more of them next Monday on the Strip at the U.K. invasion,” said “Mad Men” and “Glee” costume designer Allison Leach. “We aimed our design approach at irreverence and edgy. The ripped pantyhose and safety-pinned jean jackets of London punk didn’t exactly invoke a highly decorated Michelin chef, so we found a sexy medium with the uniforms.
“If this were a fashion collection, I’d call it Proper-Rama. We’ve taken elements of British punk, but added the elegance of tailored woolens to the street vibe. You might see bondage jeans, studs and safety pins -- but served up with sophistication.”
The welcoming wall of kegs proves Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill is just about ready to open.
Gordon’s Pub & Grill is divided into two distinct sections, and that division extends beyond the menus. ”Uniform-wise, the Grill is slightly more proper, while the Pub is a bit more punk,” added Allison, who also designed the uniforms at Gordon Ramsay Steak in the Paris. “The hostess dress is our piece d’resistance. Its newsprint is packed with articles from Gordon’s homeland and history. Some fact, some hilarious fiction, all designed to engage the guest from back to front.
“Studded straps and kilt-pin closures keep the dress hanging on! Guests will find lots of witty gems in the one-of-a-kind newsprint. The hostess even has Zip-It gloves fashioned by glove guru Dorothy Gaspar, who created gloves for Ryan Gosling in ‘Drive’ and Madonna.”
Gordon Ramsay BurGR at Planet Hollywood will look like this when it opens on December 22.
On Monday while juggling the opening of his Caesars fish and chips hangout and the new Gordon Ramsay BurGR grill at Planet Hollywood on Dec. 22, Gordon hosts an extraordinary “Friends of James Beard Foundation” dinner. The “Hell’s Kitchen” chef is creating a Gordon Ramsay Steak scholarship to benefit a student from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Las Vegas. The James Beard Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee will select the recipient of the scholarship.
The four-course dinner to be served in GRS’ private dining room by Gordon is available to 75 lucky guests. With its numerous awards, GRS has become one of the most successful restaurant openings here in years and the most successful of his U.S. restaurants. Gordon has confirmed that he’s planning to expand it after only six months since opening. To date, 82,495 people have been served 23,255 beef wellingtons, 9,097 toffee puddings and 21,763 cocktails!
