Pamela Anderson boosts Jesus Villa’s 310-mile, L.V.-L.A. trek on stilts

Jesus "Half Animal" Villa.

Blonde bombshell and Playboy’s all-time favorite cover girl Pamela Anderson will fulfill her promise when ultimate athlete, acrobat and friend Jesus “Half Animal” Villa attempts his sixth Guinness World Record starting Saturday. As I’ve previously reported, Jesus plans to run 310 miles on spring-loaded stilts, taking 10 days for “The Longest Journey” from Las Vegas to L.A. from Dec. 8-18.

Pamela will start him off from the Ronald McDonald House just off the Strip at Sahara Avenue and Potosi Street at noon Saturday. She’ll also greet him upon his finish in L.A. Jesus has been a Cirque du Soleil performer for more than a decade and starred in “Zumanity” when it debuted in New York-New York. He choreographed and performed on spring-loaded stilts at the 2008 Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremony.

To meet the Guinness World Record requirements, Jesus will run a distance of 310 miles, the distance between L.V. and L.A. Although given a maximum time allowance of 14 days, he wants to achieve it in 10 at a rate of 31 miles per day, which is the equivalent of running a little over a full marathon each day!

Spring-loaded jumping stilts are metal apparatus with curved, carbon-fiber springs attached to the lower leg that use gravitational energy to provide its user with incredible height and speed. The spring-loaded stilts will add to the challenge, as they impose more resistance and a heavier load than running shoes. If he sets a new world record, it will be added to his five world records, making him the only six-time world-record holder.

“This will be my biggest challenge to date,” Jesus told me. “This type of record has never been attempted before, so we are facing uncertainties and difficulties. I have been training for nine months, so hopefully my body will remain as strong as my mind to complete the entire run. But no matter what happens, giving up will not be an option. I can’t wait to share this experience with supporters around the world.”

You can watch the start of this inspiring event alongside Pamela, and admission is free, but I hope that you’ll make a donation to Ronald McDonald House. The schedule and daily locations for the journey is at HalfAnimal.com.

“Half Animal” currently holds five world records: for being the only man to perform a double back flip on jumping stilts (2002), for performing 19 body-straight jumping stilts back flips, also known as “whips,” across 100 yards (2007), for performing 13 consecutive 90-degree push-ups (2010), for the most consecutive front summersaults on spring-loaded stilts (2011), and the longest front summersault on spring-loaded stilts over a vehicle (2011).
