The 30th anniversary celebrations for Motley Crue are heating up, and it appears that they are set to become the first heavy metal group to sign a short-term residency here in frontman Vince Neil’s hometown. Details are shrouded in secrecy, as nobody in the group or at the Hard Rock Hotel will reveal details, but here’s what I’ve confirmed so far:
The four bad boys of rock will play a nearly monthlong series of three- and four-night concerts a week at the off-Strip casino starting at the end of February. Expect the official announcement just before Thanksgiving just as the Crue take off for a December tour of Britain complete with Tommy Lee’s mind-blowing, 360-degree drum roller coaster. The rockers play Wembley Stadium on Dec. 14 and then head home for the holidays.
Meantime, it was exactly 10 years ago that their biography “The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band” was first released, and it’s been a bestseller ever since. Now the sexually charged memoirs are being repackaged in a deluxe collector’s hardcover edition with all-new material updated by the band. It’s set for a Nov. 22 release, and copies will be on sale here when they start their residency.
Wicked Whispers & Racy Rumors
Chef Todd English is in a bruising lawsuit filed by former Light Group President Kelley Jones over their Todd English P.U.B. in Crystals. Kelly claims a major breach of contract over consulting fees and partnership promises of shares after getting the CityCenter restaurant opened in record time under impossible deadlines.
… Congratulations to former Las Vegas-based porn princess Tera Patrick who split from rocker husband Evan Seinfeld and is now pregnant in Canada and promising to move back here after getting married. … Congrats also to pop artist Michael Godard, who lives here and has several art galleries on the Strip, after he popped the question to his longtime girlfriend and manager Brittany Weber over the romantic 11/11/11 weekend, and she promptly said “yes.”

… Those rumors I first exclusively reported about changes to MGM Grand’s nightlife are shaping up each new day: the four-story nightclub that will take the place of Studio 54 next year will include an upper-deck swimming pool so revelers can party day and night. The planned Pink Elephant nightclub in the expanded “Crazy Horse Paris” salon will take over in May, and, after construction, the burlesque show will kick off the early evening before the jewel box nightclub cranks up. … New arrivals in town as permanent residents include the headquarters staff of the Lingerie Football League and glamorous WWE star Rosa Mendes, a six-year veteran of “Monday Night Raw” and “Friday Night Fights.”
… Ouch! Nightlife party queen Tiffany Masters, who hosted the World’s Largest Wedding Reception, gave up her own Tropicana suite to a newlywed couple and their 20 friends after they were told “no room at the inn” at a rival hotel that wouldn’t find them alternate space on the big fight weekend due to a high-roller refusing to check out when promised and instead buying out the entire floor for his friends. … Just asking which major showbiz figure here was aced out of his commission after negotiating the contract for another star to get booked for a long run at a Las Vegas hotel?
*The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open partnered with more than 85 local schools and nonprofits to raise $49,000 through the charity and schools ticket fundraisers. More than 50 nonprofits were involved in this year’s program and the Tickets for Charity programs return next year for the 2012 tournament Oct. 1-7.
*Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., won the $7,777 Duel in the Desert check at the Dirt Track of Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Terry, who also won the 2010 race, started fifth, took the lead on Lap 23 and survived a last-lap drag race with Dominic Ursetta at the checkered flag for his second consecutive win. Last year’s event drew a record 232 entries, but the record was broken this year with 240 drivers from 25 states and three provinces. Past winners Johnny “The Jet” Saathoff (2004, 2009), Jeremy Payne (2005, 2006) and David Murray Jr. (2008) didn’t qualify this year.
