It’s a TV network ratings war in Las Vegas between NBC and CBS. Just a mile separates superstar singers Celine Dion, Marie Osmond and Gladys Knight, who are siding with Susan Lucci at the Las Vegas Hilton for the 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards (starting at 5 p.m. PT), and the 51 hopefuls of the 60th anniversary 2011 Miss USA Pageant at Planet Hollywood (starting at 6 p.m. PT), with host Giuliana Rancic and backstage commentator Kelly Osbourne as added divas. Both glittering shows have pre-show, star-studded red carpet parades.
Susan, whom Senior Editor John Katsilometes interviewed for The Kats Report posted yesterday, is one of the presenters at the Daytime Emmys hosted by Wayne Brady, and joining them are Rio headliners Penn & Teller, Anderson Cooper, Meredith Vieira, Rachael Ray, Marlee Matlin, Jillian Michaels, Kelly Monaco, Tracey Bregman and Sherri Shepherd, among others.
Several TV critics say daytime dramas are on life support and that when Katie Couric’s new afternoon talker arrives in the fall, that could really spell doom. But with Oprah Winfrey, Pat Sajak and Alex Trebek on hand for achievement awards, producer David McKenzie promises a celebration, not a wake!
John will be on duty at the Hilton, and I’ll be at Planet Hollywood when 2010 Miss USA Rima Fakih ends her reign and crowns her successor at 7:55 p.m. We’ll tweet from the red carpet and during the pageant (@robin_leach) -- and will have a live blog during the competition -- in our own contest with John tweeting from the Emmys! Vegas DeLuxe has been covering Miss USA since the contestants arrived 10 days ago, and this week, photo galleries of them in Sherri Hill evening gowns, Kandy Wrappers swimwear and high fashion poses by Fadil Berisha were posted.
Other lovely ladies on the scene this weekend include parties for Khloe Kardashian Odom -- her birthday -- Vanessa Minnillo’s bachelorette bash (she’s marrying Nicky Lachey -- finally), Heidi Montag’s poolside affair and a weekend laugh fest with Lily Tomlin. No wonder Motley Crue will be here this weekend at Red Rock Resort’s Amphitheater singing “Girls, Girls, Girls.” The guys aren’t left out, but they’re confined to music and comedy!
So with sash in place and trophies to award, let’s get this jewel-encrusted, sparkling edition of the Royal Robin Rundown in play for a ratings rumble.

We’ll post those photos Sunday, and then cover the Miss USA Pageant via Twitter and live blog and post the crowning moments. Then Monday, we’ll have the Weekend Celebrity Wrap-Up.
