There’s no question that everybody from Lady Gaga to hometown favorites Motley Crue have their fanatical fans. But whoever would have guessed that the unlikely and decidedly non-rock star guys who comprise the hit Pawn Stars on The History Channel would become bigger than some rock stars?!
Now Richard, Rick and Corey Harrison and Austin “Chumlee” Russell are off on the road and on tour. This weekend, they bring their Gold and Silver Road Show to Swinomish Casino in Anacortes, Wash., homeport to the San Juan Islands. The boys are booked through Nov. 12 at casinos all across the country, and they’re even getting room keys thrown onstage when fans give them standing ovations.

A tour official told me: “The reaction was totally unexpected. It’s another phenomenon. As word spreads, so do bookings. Everybody wants them. We could schedule them 365 days a year for appearances, but they have the store to run here and shoot all the new reality television show episodes. It’s just weekends now, but that’s already almost a full schedule through the end of the year!”
Vegas DeLuxe recently talked with Rick about his new book and the new, staggering 80-show renewal over four seasons.
*Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner is showing that he can maintain a sense of humor in the heartbreak from his breakup with Crystal Harris. Yesterday, he tweeted that some copies of the July Playboy will carry a cover sticker “Runaway bride issue” emblazoned over the cover shot of a semi-nude Crystal in Hef’s smoking jacket and captains’ hat! Meantime, we posted an exclusive report last night of Peepshow star and ex-girlfriend Holly Madison -- along with several other former Playmates -- going to The Playboy Mansion to offer Hef comfort and encouragement.
A sticker reflects the status of Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris' engagement on the July 2011 issue of Playboy out June 16, 2011.
Holly attended a photo shoot and a Paramount Pictures party but spent the night at the Beverly Hills Hotel before flying back here today. I was reliably told: “Don’t read into it any more than the fact they are friends. There won’t be any reconciliation. She has a steady boyfriend now, and they are very fond of each other. They’re keeping it as secret and under the radar as possible so it doesn’t get jeopardized in a media circus.” I know his identity but have agreed to go along with the secrecy for now.
Meantime, 2011 Playmate of the Year and Bettie Page spokesmodel Claire Sinclair wound up yesterday talking to shock jock Howard Stern about Hef’s wedding breakup. She said, “It’s all very suspicious because her single came out the same day she called it off.” Claire added that many of the girls thought it was obvious Crystal was a gold digger, adding: “The whole thing is weird to her. I doubt Hef was in on it. He’s too hurt by it. It must freak him out that she just left out of nowhere.”

*We’ve got the first look at the now-completed video that Wayne Newton, Terry Fator, Iron Chef winner Kerry Simon and Mayor Oscar Goodman made for the World Market bi-annual trade fair in August.
Cast members from Cirque du Soleil’s Viva Elvis, Mystere and Excalibur’s Tournament of Kings joined with Jubilee! at Bally’s showgirls and even yours truly for the promotional video hosted by World Market CEO Robert Maricich to lure worldwide furniture industry executives. “The response was overwhelmingly positive and, our entertainers show just how hospitable and friendly this city really is,” Maricich said.

Daniel Auerbach, lead singer of The Black Keys, hung out at Ghostbar at the Palms last night, while downstairs, Ghost Adventurers star and hometown hero Zak Bagans checked out Kahsino at The Lounge. … Reggae legend Toots Hibbert is still going strong at 66, and his Jamaican musicians Toots & The Maytals have performed for more than 40 years. Photographer Erik Kabik was on duty at the Hard Rock Hotel Pool last night for our photo gallery of the Soundwaves show. “Intensely energetic evoking the spirit of Otis Redding, Ray Charles and Al Green,” Erik told me.
