The Top 10 poker players in the world as ranked by the Global Poker Index were at the Palms for the third Epic Poker League Main Event, which ended last night after five days of action-packed tournament play. Philadelphia’s Chris Klodnicki emerged victorious, earning $801,680 and the champion’s ring and increased his career earnings to $2,818, 881.
“It was a trip getting through this really tough field,” Chris said. “I enjoyed the Mix-Max format, which caters to top poker players, and while draining, I liked how the tournament progressed. Epic puts players first.”
“The third Epic Poker League Main Event featured a talented field with all of the top 10 GPI players in attendance,” said Annie Duke, EPL commissioner. (We posted an interview with Annie last week as the tournament got underway.) “The action at the tables throughout the tournament was thrilling, and viewers will be captivated by the high level of play and amazing hands these top pros exhibited.”
TV viewers will see Chris’ victory and Joe Tehan’s knockout of champions Vanessa Rousso and Faraz Jaka with an incredible bluff on CBS and Discovery’s Velocity cable channel when the inaugural season of four Main Events starts airing in February and wraps with EPL’s Top 27 players competing head-to-head live in the fifth and final championship match in the spring.
