Strip Scribbles: Elaine Wynn has pre-planned trip weekend of wedding
Hotel mogul Elaine Wynn revealed that she'll be with billionaire Warren Buffet in Omaha when ex-husband Steve Wynn marries English socialite Andrea Hissom the weekend of April 29. Please don’t think for a moment that I asked Elaine where she would be, as she volunteered the information when we shared a champagne toast at the grand opening of Emilio Pucci at Crystals at MGM’s CityCenter.
Elaine told me: “I’m very happy, but everybody is concerned for me and asking me where I’ll be, so I’ll tell you before you even ask.” In fact, I was more curious about the rumors I’d heard about her being interested in buying her own hotel. The First Lady of the Strip replied: “Not true. There’s nothing for sale up to the standards and quality I’d put my name on. Besides, I’m still a director of the Wynn and Encore, and that’s my interest. I’m not even looking at hotels in California. You have to have a casino to make money in the hotel business. But a lot of people have made some very interesting overtures, and all I want to say for now is that I’m certainly not going away anywhere. There’ll be news when the right time comes.”
She also revealed: “I have bought a new home in Los Angeles to be closer to my family there. Although I have good friends and family in both Los Angeles and New York and will spend more time there than before, I’m not leaving Las Vegas. I’m going to be at Warren Buffet’s annual Omaha meetings of Berkshire Hathaway that particular weekend, but it was honestly planned many weeks before that announcement was made.”
Hosts Elaine, Susie Lee and Victoria Otter were decked out in chic Pucci fashions for the opening, and part of the evening’s proceeds went to Communities in Schools. Tim Crout, senior VP of Emilio Pucci, also was in attendance.
