When lovely Catherine Hickland meets up with her ex-husband David Hasselhoff this evening onstage downtown, it will be the first time they’ve seen each other in 20 years. Our Merry Mayor of Mirth Oscar Goodman will be onstage with the two former Baywatch stars to prevent any awkward or interesting moments.

Catherine told me late last night that all her attempts to fly home to Las Vegas were foiled because of the high winds here. “If the flights don’t resume, I’ll drive over from Los Angeles, because at 1 p.m., I have two weddings in the KITT Knight Rider car downtown.”

She said she’d only discovered last night that she was teaming up with David and that it would be the first time they had seen each other “in two decades or more!”

Catherine, who now lives here in Las Vegas, David and my pal stuntman Jack Gill, who performed all the Knight Rider stunts, with actress wife Morgan Brittany are all taking part in the Knight Rider Festival. They will drive in a parade of more than a dozen Knight Rider cars behind a white horse into Fremont Street tonight, and then tomorrow morning, Catherine will sing the national anthem with a color guard to kick off Saturday’s festivities.

The Knight Rider Festival begins in style at 5 p.m. today and includes the original and new KITT cars from the Knight Rider series. David and Oscar, with entertainment from Paul Casey, Glen Larson and other special guest performers, take the 1st Street Stage starting at 8 p.m.

The festival continues tomorrow with Catherine’s performance, a VIP Q&A and autograph signings and fan photos with past and present Knight Rider celebrities. (The most recent incarnation of the series on NBC starring Justin Bruening was canceled last year.) The KITT cars remain on display until 11 p.m.
