Strip Scribbles: Wet Republic goes online with YouTube and blog

Every major event since Wet Republic at MGM Grand opened this year has been recorded on video, and now the more than 20 high-definition videos have been edited, assembled and posted on YouTube to showcase the celebrity bashes and top international DJs.

Additionally, Wet Republic has launched WetRepublicBlog.com, where you’ll find other videos, plus all the DJs’ playlists. In the next three weeks, the dayclub features seven of the worlds Top 100 DJs and is planning a Fourth of July spectacular with Holly’s World and Peepshow star Holly Madison and her reality TV cast.

But it’s this weekend’s arrival of Steve Angello, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso, who make up Swedish House Mafia, that has all of Las Vegas nightlife talking. Wet Republic execs call it “possibly the biggest event of the summer with the most exclusive electronic act in the country.”

*Producer David Saxe delayed his scheduled June 18 opening of his Vegas! The Show spectacular as he ramped up production values and added members to the cast that now features more than 40 performers. Tonight’s the final dress rehearsal, which contributing photographer Tom Donoghue will shoot if there’s no further last-minute delays.

We’ll post that photo gallery here at Vegas DeLuxe tomorrow in advance of the official launch tomorrow night. Vegas! The Show’s run is in the former ill-fated Steve Wyrick Theater at Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile.

*Spies tell me that after our Monday story about the parking problems at Pawn Stars’ downtown store, conversations have begun with the owner of the empty lot across the street, and Mayor Oscar Goodman said that he’ll help get the parties together to resolve the situation.

*Luxor headliner comic Carrot Top was supposed to get first taste of his signature Heat Miser cocktail at Minus 5 Lounge, but instead wound up in the hospital for food poisoning. The event has been rescheduled for Monday at 5 p.m. in the Mandalay Place Shoppes. Carrot Top’s drink joins the Holly Mad-ice-on cocktail and the Inhumane Nature cocktails from Holly Madison and Human Nature.

STAR SURVEILLANCE

L.A. Lakers star Derek Fisher and wife Candace celebrated his NBA Championship at Encore Beach Club’s evening swim party Dip and Dance last night. They turned up shortly before midnight and partied in a private lower-level cabana until 2:30 a.m. … After the 2010 NHL Awards, Joel Quenneville, head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks, dined at Yellowtail in the Bellagio with friends and players to celebrate their Stanley Cup win this year, and posed for a photo with chef Akira Back. The group toasted with Veuve Clicquot and let diners take photographs with the trophy.

*If you see stars drinking more tequila shots than ever before this weekend, don’t be surprised. The new, hot and hip Ambhar tequila drinks are popular, and Ambhar’s fun starts tonight at Slightly Stoopid’s concert at the Hard Rock Hotel pool and again there tomorrow with Puddle of Mud. Then daytime TV stars enjoy the tequila cocktails at tomorrow night’s pre-party of the Daytime Emmy Awards at Mix atop The Hotel at Mandalay Bay.

*Country superstar Garth Brooks continues his big Wynn contract with three nights of shows in Encore Theater, and then rushes over to the Hilton for a guest appearance on the Daytime Emmys.

*The Hard Rock’s weekend of poolside concerts gets underway with Slightly Stoopid and The Expendables, while at Red Rock Resort, Little Feat plays blues on the beach with their normal feet in the sand.

*Comic Carlos Mencia is out to solve world stupidities in his standup at Treasure Island.

*The Orleans summer comedy series starring The Marriage Ref host Tom Papa returns for two nights at the Showroom with guest comedian Bill Burr, while Gary Puckett, with or without Union Gap, plays South Point.

*L.A. Comedy Club’s Ahmed Ahmed featuring Peter Berman holds forth for three nights at Carey Hart’s Wasted Space in the Hard Rock Hotel.

PARTY PATROL

*Be careful where you step when Puddle of Mudd plays a poolside concert at the Hard Rock Hotel.

*It’s a power lineup at Planet Hollywood with Kirk Franklin and BeBe and CeCe Winans.

*The Spinners, who’ll be around to ask if you’re falling in love, are at Cannery, and The Pointer Sisters are so excited to be at Star of the Desert Arena in Primm.

*Everclear is at Silverton Casino Lodge, and Psychedelic Furs and She Wants Revenge are at House of Blues in Mandalay Bay.

*Country music star Joe Nichols is a man with a memory at Santa Fe Station, while singer Oleta Adams is at Boulder Station.

*The Dan Band, who appeared in The Hangover, perform at Dick’s Last Resort in Excalibur to celebrate its third anniversary.

*Tickets go on sale today for comedian Jeff Dunham’s concert at Caesars Palace on Sept. 3 and for Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp’s show Aug. 18.

*The $1 million 2010 World Series of Poker tournament of champions begins with ESPN cameras rolling as 27 players pray over their cards at The Rio. The Final Table should play July 4, and the no-limit hold ’em event airs as a two-hour special Aug. 3.

*Strip stars including Cher, Garth Brooks and Barry Manilow join in the all-star salute to legendary Dick Clark during the Daytime Emmys televised on CBS from the Las Vegas Hilton. David Copperfield opens the show with an illusion that produces Regis Philbin as host for the two-hour show. After the telecast, the stars of All My Children, including Susan Lucci, celebrate at Lavo in the Palazzo.
