Barry Manilow’s live QVC telecast from the Paris heralds new album

Superstar entertainer Barry Manilow hopes to break his own staggering record when he broadcasts live tonight from his new home at the Paris Las Vegas, and hundreds of thousands of viewers are expected to tune in to the event.
At 6 p.m. our time in the Champagne Ballroom of the Strip casino hotel, TV cameras from QVC will satellite Barry for 9 p.m. primetime on the East Coast as he debuts his album The Greatest Love Songs of All Time.
The album doesn’t drop until next Tuesday, so QVC has the sales exclusive for the much-anticipated release for seven days.
During the special QVC Presents QSessions Live, the Grammy-, Tony- and Emmy-winning artist will perform songs from the new album. He’ll also give viewers an inside look at the inspiration behind the collection. Barry also will offer at-home shoppers the opportunity to purchase a five-track bonus disc of songs he put together especially for QVC viewers, a week before the street release date.
“Barry Manilow continues to be a favorite among our viewers,” said Rich Yoegel, director of merchandising for QVC. “Performing his brand new songs live from Las Vegas, this show promises to be one that no one will want to miss.”
Barry teamed up, once again, with longtime collaborator and Arista Records founder Clive Davis, now chief creative officer at Sony Music Entertainment, for The Greatest Love Songs of All Time.
Said Clive: “Barry and I have a mission to bring to a new generation the great songs that are the soundtrack of our lives. This album does just that, and Barry is sounding better than ever.”
The new CD features Barry’s loving interpretations and arrangements of classic love songs, and included among the beloved standards are “Love Is Here to Stay,” “The Look of Love” and “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love.”
Back in 2006, Barry’s QVC appearance marked the highest single-day sales by a music artist in QVC history. It also still continues to hold the record as the highest single-hour music sales event in QVC’s 23-year history, and Barry and QVC officials are hoping he shatters that tonight.

Barry will sneak preview his new Paris show at this year’s Keep Memory Alive gala as a charity fundraiser for the downtown Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health on Feb. 27 in the Bellagio. The show’s official premiere is six days later on March 5 at the Paris.
Barry’s new two-year deal for 150 shows at the Paris follows his Las Vegas Hilton run that began in February 2005. He performed more than 300 shows to 450,000 people with gross ticket sales of more than $70 million. Barry says that the Paris production will be new and unique, with all-new sets and stage designs.
“We didn’t bring anything with us from the Hilton,” he laughed.
