Music mogul and trendsetting designer P. Diddy sure knew how to celebrate the official opening of the nightclub Vanity at the Hard Rock Hotel. Not only did he bring Nelly, Jadakiss, Rick Ross, Chester French and singer-model Cassie along for the party, but he also got them to all join together with him for a welcome sing-along! Diddy was so happy with the festivities that he even had his “Ciroc Star” video cameras record the astonishing lineup of recording royals.
My spywitness reported: Pro golfer Anthony Kim danced with Diddy on top of the booths. Floyd Mayweather Jr. stopped by to wish everyone well, and actress Meagan Good joined the club’s co-owner Jason Giambi for the celebration. Florida Marlins star Josh Johnson also was seen in the crowd.
It really was a grand opening celebration of the city’s hottest new nightclub, and more famous faces turned up through the night, including R&B artist Iyaz, managing partner of Vanity Cory McCormack, actor Jay Hernandez, E!’s Ben Lyons, actor Keith Robinson, Avatar actor Laz Alonso and Glee actor Dijon Talton (Dijon plays Matt, the Glee Club member who has yet to utter a line!).
Before hitting the red carpet to jump-start the celebration, Diddy spent the evening shooting a music video with indie rock band Chester French for his vodka song “Ciroc Star.” He had dinner in his penthouse suite, where he stayed for two nights, before heading downstairs after midnight to the celebration. Shortly after Diddy’s arrival, DJ Clinton Sparks jumped on the mic to welcome the music mogul and promptly played one of Diddy’s songs, which got Nelly, Diddy and Chester French to all stand and dance.
The revelers danced in the glow of Vanity’s 20,000 LED light cyclone chandelier. Diddy stood on the DJ booth to perform “Ciroc Star” and shouted to the crowd, “Hey, West Coast, this is the hottest spot in Las Vegas!” Our Editor Don Chareunsy rang in 2010 at the NYE opening of Vanity ahead of the official grand opening with Diddy and friends.
