Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron has won the 2010 Miss America Pageant in Planet Hollywood. She won after wearing a yellow gown for Evening Wear, singing Beyonce’s “Listen” from “Dreamgirls” in the Talent competition and advising kids that they should do more outdoor activities to combat obesity. Cameron, 22, who wins a $50,000 scholarship, is a broadcast journalism student at Virginia Commonwealth University and hopes to become an anchor. Three 2010 Miss America Pageant contestants shared $12,000 in scholarships when they were announced as winners in the annual pageant’s Quality of Life Awards for their charity and public service platforms. It was a long and difficult journey from “The Killing Fields” of Cambodia for refugee Kimbo Ung, who has now settled in Las Vegas and become a full-time poker player. Photo Gallery: Flawless fireworks show ushers in New Year and decade

Tens of thousands of revelers jammed the Strip and other prime viewing areas for the midnight pyrotechnics that welcomed in 2010. The 7-minute, 11-second spectacular was fired from seven hotel rooftops, and our contributing photographer Tom Donoghue captured all the colorful action as the starbursts exploded over Planet Hollywood.
