Strip Scribbles: World Hip-Hop Dance Championships back for second year

The 2009 World Hip-Hop Dance Championships are back in Las Vegas this weekend with 120 dance crews representing 30 countries. It’s the second year of the street dance competitions here. I know very little about lock, crump and whack but can understand vogue and pop lock! There are three age group categories: junior, varsity and adult. Just as Tao in The Venetian was about to close after midnight this morning, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z made a surprise appearance and confirmed that he’s here for the weekend to watch and support his wife Beyonce’s four concerts at the Encore Theatre. Hotel mogul Phil Ruffin has set an Aug. 10 official opening date for his new Asian-themed restaurant Khotan at Treasure Island, which he acquired from MGM this year in a $750 million purchase. Here’s the first video footage of Michael Jackson courtesy of YouTube rehearsing his This Is It song-and-dance segments filmed just two days before his death: CNN anchor Anderson Cooper obtained the video from concert promoters AEG, who were producing Michael’s shows.
