Photo Gallery: America’s Tallest Christmas Tree lights up M Resort
America's Tallest Christmas Tree at The M Resort is lit up on Dec. 12, 2009.
More than 3,000 people braved near-freezing temperatures and wind-whipped rain for the lighting of America’s Tallest Christmas Tree at our M Resort last night. Our contributing photographer Tom Donoghue and Glenn Pinkerton of Las Vegas News Bureau were on hand to capture the magic moment overseen by The M Resort Chairman and CEO Anthony Marnell III.
It had taken more than a week to decorate the incredible tree, which stands higher than those at Rockefeller Center in New York and at The White House in Washington, D.C. Tom was on the scene when the white fir arrived from the Pacific Northwest at The M Resort this month.
I was told that the 6,000 was twice as many as expected for the holiday lighting ceremony and exceeded the number of fans who turned out there recently for country superstar Tim McGraw’s concert! (Methinks the fact that the lighting was free helps.)
The M Resort Chairman and CEO Anthony Marnell III and his family light the nation's tallest Christmas Tree, a 109-foot white fir, at The M Resort on Dec. 12, 2009.
Local choral and church groups teamed up to sing Christmas carols, while visitors enjoyed holiday taste treats and hot chocolate while admiring the more than 10,000 lights and ornaments. America’s Tallest Christmas Tree will remain on display through the end of the month.
